Sela Vai is a Tongan-Australian choreographer and movement director.
Recognised internationally for her distinguishing choreography and empowering presence, Sela is making her mark as a visionary across all entertainment realms.
Sela’s award-winning choreography has led her to choreograph and movement direct TVC’s for Suncorp, Apple & Commbank; as well as for internationally renowned events such as TED Talks and Pacific Runway Fashion Show at Carriageworks. Furthermore, she has choreographed for renowned artists such as Ngaiire, Thelma Plum, L- Fresh the Lion, and Phil Fresh to name a few; and has performed for Solange Knowles and Jessica Mauboy.
Sela’s passion for diversifying the commercial spotlight championed through her a role as Associate Artist for Black Birds Theatre company. She has had the honour of choreographing a work for the 22nd Biennale of Sydney and continues to seek opportunities that dignify her Pacific Islander heritage. In 2019, Sela won “Best On Stage” from the FBI Radio Smac Awards for her first show, RECLAIM, that she directed and choreographed in collaboration with Black Birds.
Sela is currently coaching the next generation of creatives around Australia through the HUMXN. Program, incorporating her skills as a life coach to empower young artists to lead with artistic integrity and a strong mindset.
